Seat position training for riders
Riding is the dialogue of two bodies and two souls aiming to be as one. A human body always has a story to tell- a very individual story which includes all aspects of life.
In every life, there are times that are good and times that are bad. Our body continuously stores conscious and subconscious memories. This is how our body becomes a mirror of our biography. Through this aspect, our ability to allow the horse to move our body might be hindered.
Since riding is a dialogue of motion between the horse’s and rider’s body, it would be desirable to be able to listen and talk to the horse without restrictions of our body and mindset. Allowing a horse to move our body might sound easy, but often it is not. Using the method Sitzkunst, Julica Valentiner is able to support riders becoming aware of their body patterns, and to develop a solution focused way to improve their body posture and riding on horseback.
Julica's work always shapes me and my work anew in the sense of further and deeper sensitization for the horse-human movement unit. These experiences, especially in the work in the high school, such as the piaffe and the flying changes, are crucial for the empathy of the rider's seat. Also, the training of the eye for me as an instructor is elementary. The muscle chains from head to toe and foot to head react differently depending on the cause. In the correction of the rider's seat, as with the horse, it is important to look for the true causes of possible postural mistakes, and not simply to change the posture since the overall combination of body and mind must react in order to achieve a real and lasting change.
